Cubs Welcome Olympic Torch

Our St Stephens Cubs were honoured to welcome the Olympic Torch at our Scout Hut near St Austell

We were proud to welcome the OLympic Torch brought to visit our cubs by local Torchbearer Mandy Hiscock. Mandy was nominated by her daughter, not only has she got 3 children but works full time as well. She is our local St Stephens Brownie Leader and helps out at other Girl Guide units. She started a local mother and baby group whilst here children were young, this group is still going and gives other mums somewhere to go and talk to other mums and their babies get to play together. This year she has begun a Sunday School, after there not being one for 15 years, in our small local chapel at Treviscoe to help young people to become better people. Mandy ran with the Torch through Helston in Cornwall.

St Stephens Cubs with the Olympic Torch

The Cubs were excited by the special visit of the Olympic Torch to St Stephens

The cubs were extremely excited to receive Mandy as our guest of honour, she told us all about the Torch, her experience and the lasting memories that the event provided. In turn they all got to hold the torch also and have their photo taken alongside Mandy.
